I did it once. I had been at the Sonic with my gf at the time, in a well lit area of town and pulled out without turning them on. Once it got a little darker I realized they weren't on and turned them on just as a cop was coming the opposite direction. Needless to say I got pulled over. Didn't get a ticket though.
