NEW ORLEANS — The Sewerage & Water Board of New Orleans has reinstated a precautionary boil water advisory for Uptown New Orleans Monday morning, just hours after telling residents that the water was safe to use.
During a press conference Monday, S&WB Executive Director Ghassan Korban told reporters the advisory should be lifted around noon Tuesday, unless the water sample tests reveal a problem.
The advisory was re-issued after a second drop in water pressure in the area. The replacement water main was so big that pressure dropped while introducing it to the system, Korban said.
"That's what caused the second water boil advisory," Korban said.
Korban said he appreciates and understands people's frustration with the number of water boil advisories in the area, but the number of advisories reflects the age of the water system, he said.

S&WB can’t get their head out of their asses. One of the worst run organizations in the entire country. They couldn’t put a hand on their own dicks if they weren’t attached.

I see people bitch in these threads and act like it doesn't happen all over quite often.

I've never had to boil my water.

Go ahead and name some places “all over” that have multiple widespread boil water advisories in a month?
I won’t go into the flooding issues...

Where I live, we've had a couple the past few months. It happens.... big deal, boil the water or use bottled water. Its really nothing to bitch about.

Aside from a major water main breaking in a city, water boil advisories are not common excluding places like Flint, Michigan
The frequency that they occur in New Orleans is huge. When I lived in the city over 5 years ago we had them 3-4 times a year

I've had maybe 10 boil advisories in my entire lifetime.

I understand but that’s exactly with the residents think and you don’t pay $300 month for fricking water.

You're right, water is virtually free here. Sry I live in an area that has boil orders often and cheap utilities.

Where do you live?
We pay the highest water/sewerage rates in the nation in New Orleans and they want more even after squandering billions of FEMA money.. There is no combination of ineptitude and corruption close to here.

I used to lose water pressure somewhat often in rural AP, but never had a boil order, after some hurricanes, but often not even then.
Probably comes down to the water company not knowing or not caring to report it. NOLA might be on a different setup for monitoring that they can't hide it.
