Unless the smoke is coming from dope, in that case its ok.

What kind of shitty 3rd world apartments do they have where you can smell if someone is smoking indoors in the apartment next to you? Weed smoke danks the air and lingers way longer than cigarette smoke anyways.

Eh, the stench of cigarette smoke stays around a lot longer. I can walk into a friend's apartment that smokes weed all the time (by that, I mean me) and not smell a thing if they haven't recently smoked it.
But if you step foot into a cigarette smoker's house, it'll slap you right in the face immediately. Even if they haven't smoked a cig in a year.

WTF haha no it doesn't. That is an absurd comment.
I used to smoke weed in my parents' house and it'd disappear in a couple hours completely. Smoke a cigarette and you gotta wash everything and it still might not be out for a while, shite gets in the paint and drywall. They aren't even close dude, hope that's a troll.
This law is still stupid though.

Well, and I'm sure landlords got tired of having to rip up carpets every time a smoker moved out of the apartment before the next tenant could move in.

Weed smoke smells like someone shite their pants and hovers around stagnant outside. If someone is sitting on the porch smoking a cigarette you wouldn't even know it.
