I mean I still think either way you slice it Gulf Shores and Orange beach are going to catch a good portion of the northeast quadrant which is typically the worst side.

i mean, its kinda ridiculous to issue a hurricane warning alert on sunday at 4am to an area that now might get 1 inch of rain two days later

To add, Houston got the same alerts for Laura, despite virtually zero eventual impact. Everyone who gets that text is alerted to start paying attention. I have a hard time seeing the emergency management system stopping them.

Good to know. For reference.

On the bottom frame the white and blue is my complex, my new unit is top corner side and where the two smashed ones are to the left is where they are building the new Phoenix. The way those smashed down I'm assuming is erosion from storm surge?

The way this thing is going we aren't even going to get tropical storm force winds in Harrison County.

Hard to see 10+ feet of surge with this storm, but I guess it's possible. I wouldn't be worried though, not a damn thing you can do about it.

Which one? The interstate one or the one downtown few people know about that bypasses all the traffic
Well, only one is shitty, but I think that whole Google Maps thing might have alerted people to Bankhead.

It sucks but the science just isn’t that good yet.

It’s not 100%, but I wouldn’t say it’s no good. They have been saying that it would slow down to a crawl, with out strong steering. Also they acknowledged that this made nailing down the track difficult. I hate these slow moving storms worst of all.

As of the 4PM update, NHC had 3-5 foot surge above ground in the Gulf Shores level. That was the 10% exceedance level, meaning they're 90% sure it will be below those numbers. I wouldn't be worried much.

Based on that image, Baldwin county will be in the strongest winds for the longest amount of time, right?

I have a hotel booked on high ground in Gulf Shores. Staying at my Beach house until I lose power or feel uncomfortable from the winds and possible surge. Surge seems to be with the tides so far.

The same people who bitch about the NHC and Sally missing New Orleans are sitting here celebrating as a 100mph hurricane drifts WNW 165 miles ESE of New Orleans. If the NHC was so shitty at their job, these people would be shitting bricks. It's precisely because the NHC is so good that people are already calling it a bust for New Orleans.
