So you’re saying they, on average, all finished medical school $500,000+ in debt? I’m calling bullshite. Thats not even close to what the statistics show. I think my graduating class has around $160,000 on average.

The fact that we have federal student loans that are literally called "student-aid" with 20%+ interest rates that we offer to children before they have a credit score is insane to me. I'm not saying we should forgive student loans but we should absolutely remove all interest immediately and any payments you made should be applied to your principal of what's owed.

Try harder.

When I went to LSU, it was cheap, but it was open admissions. That meant that the graduation rate was around 50%. They were trying to fail us out. We had to try to pass classes. Now, once you're in, that's pretty much it, you'll get a diploma. We had to actually learn shite like you never say, "him started". We actually had to know the difference between a subjective and an objective pronoun. Can you identify the subject and an object in a sentence? It doesn't look like it.

If you're going to pay all of that money for an education, why don't you want to get your money's worth out of it by trying harder?

Average medical school debt is ~$235k.

Which is comparable to (although around $35,000 more than) his 2019 guess of $160,000 when taking inflation into account.

So schooling is 5%ish more expensive and real wages are probably about 10% less

Seems pretty material to me

The moral of the story is don’t waste away your 20’s in medical training taking on tons of loans and then pick a low paying specialty like peds.

Well they are in their 40s with kids. Seems like a reasonable want to me

These are all in their 30s. In fact, most millennials are in their 30s. 29-44 to be exact. I knew all these millennials when they were in college because they are my kids age. The mostly were getting this stuff immediately after or before marriage. If they lived in an apartment it was when they were single and they still all looked like they had all the things. Upon marriage, they immediately bought the 4 bedroom house and went on 2 big vacations a year.

Wait, $200k (what it should be with inflation) is “comparable”, but only ~$35,000 less than what it actually is?

$35,000 is just a paltry sum of money.

I’m glad they are bringing the word “retard” back.

My son is going to school for construction management. He will start this fall. He was going to go engineering but there is no significant difference in pay here. As a matter of fact, if you hustle CMs can make really good money. I own a construction company so that also influenced his decision.

I kinda think there is too many engineering degrees out there. My cabinet salesman is a Civil Engineer. He makes a lot more selling cabinets.
