Full speed video from ground level. Gives a better appreciation of how brutal the collision with Lajoie was.

One bad sign. They took him by ambulance instead of airlifting him. They did that with Dale. When you're hurt they put you in the helicopter.

The Oxford clerics here would freak out 10x worse if they put him in a helicopter

Speculation is boring. As brutal as the hit was, there is no in camera view to determine how he took the hit. I am hoping the HANS held up enough to save him. As to the ambulance, there is a hospital NEXT to the track so airlifting would take longer.

Don't think the HANS is much help when you get a 200 mph impact to the drivers side window

The car rolled when hit on the side so that impact may not have been as forceful as when he hit the wall.

Man that’s awesome news. I don’t follow NASCAR but I saw the news. I am glad the guy survived.

Serious condition with non life threatening injuries is better than expected. He’s not out the woods. Hopefully he will recover 100% but he is in bad shape.

I'd def. hang up the suit after that.

You survived and have had a successful career.

Now go live for those two daughters.

I’d imagine getting dusted with a fire extinguisher while hanging upside down after just sustaining traumatic injuries has to suck.
