Typhoon might be bigger... but they have 20 missile tubes and our Ohio-class have 24.

24 > 20

Really once you get to that point what does it matter? They can turn our cities into ash and we can turn their cities into finer ash?

I think that's a gay bath house.

I can't believe there are still any Typhoons that are actually sea-worthy. That thing is a giant hunk of shite. I thought they scrapped the plan to modernize any of those boats?

How far do the missles fly? Geographically the White Sea and Baltic Sea don't really look too far from each other, does this really change anything strategically?

I'm just laying out info to counter-balance your OP. That article makes it sound like the world should shite its collective pants bc some outdated Soviet hunk of shite is actually able to limp back out to sea. The Russians have some scary military equipment... but a Typhoon ain't one of them. One of our fast attacks could sink that thing at will.

I just did some looking around on Google Maps which is fun, looks like this might be its base. Hell that might actually be the submarine itself.

declassified range is listed at 5,200miles. they could launch a missile from the Black Sea and hit NYC

It appears the presence of the sub in the Baltic Sea is purely for show due to the shallowness of the water.

It's foolish to think Russia is any sort of ally for the US. I'm for friendly relations and all, but bizarre admiration that some of you have for Putin and Russia seems to be misguided at best.

Thanks. So strategically this means nothing other than signaling whatever they are trying to signal to NATO?
