I don’t need my running shoes to look cool
I got 89 other pair of kicks
I don't think it's weird to want something you wear to look better than it does
But cheers to your shoe collection

If you’re trying to learn to hit a baseball do you work on mechanics, or do you buy the most expensive bat, hitting gloves and sweatband swag?
this is a perfect example of how fit matters. Would you just go pick out a bat and buy it without trying. What about the weight, size, fit to how you swing? After going through the purchasing process with my son for a new bat, i was shocked at how those have changed since i was younger. Finding the right bat for him to learn baseball that was not too big or too small for him was important for him to learn proper form. There are so many variables in a bat, just like there are variables in a shoe. Which is why even today, when i buy a new pair, i try on at least three other shoes besides the latest version of the one i currently own.

Work on form. I'm convinced modern big cushioned shoes and heel striking form cause more problems. I've liked Saucony Kinaveras but my favorite brand is now Newton had 2 pairs. Ordered these yesterday 35% military and first responder discount

Another vote for getting professional fitting. Will still be in your budget and your feet will thank you.

Running with tennis shoes is for bitches.
I’m a barefoot runner myself.

I don’t know about walking, but running shoes are a personal decision and also need to fit your feet. I run 20-35 miles per week; my feet are relatively neutral (don’t need pronation support); and I like an average weighted shoe for most of my miles.
I use a combination of the following: New Balance 880s and Mizuno Wave Rider
I have a pair of Brooks Launch when I want to run faster.
I’m not a fan of the Hoka rocking motion, but many runners swear by them
I’ve used new balance 1080 and like them, but they are heavier than the 880
I hate running in Saucony.
