You're close.

The plant worker Catholics send their kids to St. Michaels. That school is very blue collar and lower-middle class. The rich send their kids to Catholic and SJA with a small portion going to Episcopal and Dunham.

Runnel is cheaper then chs , St Joe's and Episcopal , Parkview
And a less socially cuthrouught then the former schools. It's not as rigorous as BRH and much smaller

That post made my head spin, but you're not necessarily wrong. If you're trying to climb the social ladder in Baton Rouge, you do not accomplish that by sending your kids to Runnels. That's where the weird kids go.

Boo did you even graduate high school?

He didn't do sex until he was 28.. According to him.. So he was probably a straight A student in school.

Great school but definitely produced some oddballs. Runnels would produce some Ivy League scholars back in the day.

If so, I don’t think he is getting his money’s worth.

Makes sense

Weren’t Rispone’s kids frick ups that went to Bishop Sullivan or whatever you call it now.

Maybe Rispone thought there was only room for one CHS and St. Jo’s reject catholic school in BR.

Or, maybe Redemptorist was in a neighborhood that had become a war zone, and improving ISD’s in Zachary and Central had eroded their customer base beyond sustainability.

Still a virgin. But yes I graduated high school , from one of the top gifted school.

Runnels has a niche in private school market. Better for girls then at Joe's

A lot of kids from Central went to Redemptorist back when I was younger.

Catholic high is VERY blue collar/middle class now.

Now back in the 80’s/90’s. Yeah, CHS was majority $$$.....The AP boom changed the “traditional” CHS demographics.

As for SJA, I wouldn’t send my daughter there. Girls (richer girls) are evil x100000.

They’ve got a really nice theatre over at Dunham, and most of the kids I’ve met who went there are really weird, almost like homeschooled kids.

Whereas, my public school peeps are all baws and burnouts, the Catholic/St. Joes are frat douches and sorostitutes, and the St. Michaels kids are involved in MLM schemes or are middle managers at enterprise rentacar

Yeah, while I don't support Rispone, I am pretty sure Redemptorist had been on a downslide for years (I could be wrong).

Zachary especially hurt Redemptorist when they became an Independent school district.

But at one point I thought Redemptorist was the school people who wanted their kids to get a Catholic education, but couldn't get into or pay for Catholic, went.. And didn't they also have a program for kids with dyslexia?

Is St. Michaels & Catholic High the only Catholic HS in BR?

yes

There was a short-lived Catholic school on Barringer Foreman but it didn't last more than a few years

Redemptorist should have moved but the diocese of BR simply would not allow it. Many people think the CSOBR saw the writting on the wall and knew STM was the only viable "blue collar" Catholic school

I read the letter from the Dr Runnels. He stated he'd have to raise the tuition to 14k a year for the high school in order to get out of the red. For that price you could send your kid to almost any private school in the area.

Runnels was not religious based and had a strong arts concentration. I know several graduates from there. About half are normal, the other half well you know modern day liberals.

RHS was the school that Central and Zachary residents sent their kids to avoid EBR. Once those districts went independent, it was only a matter of time for RHS to close

Vouchers have absolutely hurt many traditional lower cost private schools. Why pay Runnells when you can get a free (and some would say better) education at Lee?
