There aren't many facts in this thread either. Lot of assumptions and opinions

Where has anyone made this claim? I haven't seen anyone say you can't be successful from Rummel.

People in general don't know shite. Opinions of stupid people get passed from person to person and eventually end up as fact. Like Lester said earlier in this thread, you get out what you put in regardless of the school you attend.
Rummel Alumni do nothing for the most part to help perception of the school in any way. While Jesuit, Brother Martin, Holy Cross, etc. do nothing but praise their schools, Rummel alumni badmouth the absolute shite out of it with any chance they get.

Having local media personalities who are grads who pretend to be alums of Jesuit, certainly don't help.

Is it not fair to assume their opinions may have some merit? What would be their ulterior motives for bashing their own school?

I hope to have my kid attend Rummel when he gets HS age. My point about NMS was mainly to say at least in this academic category that ARHS is in line with all other schools not named Jesuit. Basically BM and to a lesser extent HC gets lumped more with Jesuit then they really should IMO.
Btw, I don't feel ARHS alums bash their alma mater at a high rate

I wonder how much Holy Cross is hurting Rummel. Holy Cross got over $100 million from FEMA to rebuild its school on Paris Avenue. I can't imagine that the old 9th Ward campus was worth more than $5 million. But, now Holy Cross has the newest, most technically advanced campus in the area. I passed by it a few weeks ago and it is gorgeous.
Prior to Katrina, there was talk of Holy Cross shutting down. It seemed that only the kids of alumni were enrolling due to the crime infested zoo where it was located. Now, it's in a relatively "good" neighborhood not too far from City Park and Lakeview.
I've got to imagine that the Holy Cross campus makes Rummel look like an outdated trailer park in comparison.

HC will hurt BM and Rummel.

Why would their opinions have merit? I know plenty of people who went to Rummel and love it. I have no idea what the motives for bashing their own school are.

and we all know what opinions are like....
We all know Rummel is hurting now with enrollment, but the school will be there for many years... Like someone mentioned earlier, their 8th grade enrollment is the highest it's been in a few years, which the article failed to mention, including next year. With it's bio-med, engineering and law programs, the school has a very strong curriculum with lots of growth ahead...
The Archdiocese just sunk over 2.7 million in facility improvements...

That's peanuts.
Especially considering that Holy Cross has a brand new $100 million campus.

Holy Cross can thank Katrina and FEMA money for their new campus... They were having problems with enrollment before the storm...

The alums that went through school there and then choose to not send their kids there. Gee I don't know why their opinions might have some merit.
Was that a serious question?

Not relevant to what I asked you.

But why do you say the opinion of someone that went to school there has no merit? Could I then say that the opinion of anyone that wen to school there is no invalid? Whose opinions are valid? Only yours and those that agree with you?

quote:100% agree. HC pre-Katrina was mainly kids of alums and kids from Chslmette. Terrible location and old facility.

Yea, it's all just dumb luck
I do think that Jesuit gets far brighter students from the start. Rummel, BM and HC have always had a history of getting more kids from blue collar families. You could switch the faculty and curriculum from Jesuit to Bm or HC and vice versa and get the same results with Jesuit and it's NMS. I went to a non Jesuit catholic school and my friends who went to Jesuit had many of the same textbooks and classes. In fact, the teachers move back and forth between those schools.

Its not difficult to see the pattern with Rummel alums. The successful alums who do well financially send kid to st catherine and then on to cbs . They then get a steady barrage of how great Jesuit is and the pity look when they say they went to Rummel . The wives dont want to see theyre kids as "second class" and presto Junior ends up on Banks instead of Severn .

A friend of mine from Jesuit told me that the reason Jesuit has so many NMS is due to an afterschool "class" that they offer specifically designed to teach the PSAT. Apparently, it's a school year long course.

Could you at least attempt to not butcher the English language in your rants? It makes it really hard to take you seriously.
