NEW ORLEANS -- The Rouses grocery store Uptown was robbed at gunpoint early Sunday morning.

It happened just before 6 a.m. at the store in the 4500 block of Tchoupitoulas Street.

Guess they were up that early because they had to work the morning shift today?

Yikes. Will be caught soon, and hopefully in jail for 20 years.

When they catch the perp he needs to do 30+ years with no chance at parole. But unfortunately he will probably do less than 10.... that's one of the biggest issues right now. Violent offenders need to be thrown away

What's worrisome is how I'm shrugging it off. I imagine a lot of people feel that way too.

The overexposure to all the crime is just making me not care. Maybe it's because I know obviously this current system with our politicians won't change or address it, hopefully the next will actually try to make the city change.

Nothing like a quick robbery on Sunday morning before going to mass. I wonder if they went to St. Louis Cathedral.

too bad there wasn't a requirement to spell the street name before robbing the store

Seems like a lot of times these types of crimes are inside jobs or at least ex employees with knowledge of 'cash rooms' and what time workers show up and how many and what not.

Bigger headline would have been Rouses store Uptown not robbed at gunpoint.

That store shouldn't have been out and about in that part of town at that time of day. If it wasn't up to no good, then it should've known better.

Am I doing it right, New Orleanians?

Oh please. If he's in jail longer than 20 days I'll PayPal you a hunnid.

Didn't you hear, Mitch is using tax money to create job training. This poor baw only did what he did because there's no proper channel for him to get a job.

Cue, the only people who care are the ones who've never been to New Orleans.

All it takes is a single cashier on duty who has a concealed carry permit and who utilizes it correctly and that shite is over.

Police caught the guy after the employees told him that the first batch of boiled crawfish only had 10 more minutes left if he wanted to wait around to get some before leaving.
