He would have been better off saying nothing than this statement. This is a horrible apology; and it only really achieves making him seem completely ignorant.

He had to put a rapist's name on his helmet to appease the mob and has to "say her name" all the time now to maintain his wokeness , all the while alienating a great deal of fans that stood behind him after his initial comments. Not the kind of moving on I'd be interested in

Pretty sure the entire team did that. Other teams did similar stuff too.

Yeah, you're just pissing everybody off with that statement. You're not fooling anybody with the "I wasn't there for Trump" BS and now hard-core Trump types think you're a traitor to them and everybody is freshly reminded of the whole deal to begin with.

At this point, any furor (if it truly even existed in the first place) had to have been dying down so the smart choice would have been just to say nothing.

Impressive that you could contradict yourself twice in such a short post.

Remember all those times Brees dabbles into controversial waters prior to his BLM teammates shitting all over him? Neither do I

He’ll lose more shoppers with this than going to the fricking rally.

I don’t remember Mitt Romney being a big BLM guy prior to the George Floyd killing but he was at a rally afterwards. I don’t remember Ted Cruz being a BLM guy before that either, but I saw him tweet “Black Lives Matter” after. A lot of people changed their stance this past summer.

You're right, Brees's total change in public image was totally organic and not at all forced just to shut some moron teammates up

Had he just kept his mouth shut, that would have been over with very soon if it already wasn't. Now he's back in the news cycle, and he'll piss off people on both sides this time. Real winning strategy.

The NOLA SJWs have been online ripping him, saying F his apology and they won't support a fascist. The people that were boycotting weren't going to accept his apology. Now he alienates the people who were supporting him. Stupid move.

Seems like Brees apologized, his teammates accepted and then they all moved on.

The fans didn't... the folks that pay Brees salary, buy tickets, merchandise and such. I am laughing that there has been no news on the drop in television ratings for the NFL yet because it was huge. Of course they will blame it on COVID, which makes sense for in-person attendance but that doesn't explain low TV ratings

I guarantee he started hearing from the big guys that his shelves would be empty. They might still cancel him. Never seen anything like this in my life in the USA. Full on big business/government collusion to take all of our money and shut us up. It'll end really bad one day.
