Pretty savvy move by Rouses. It will be mostly EBT/welfare money paying for the groceries. If they can Jack the prices up high enough to cover their losses from shop lifters and cart thefts, they’ll make a nice profit.

Actually, yes. The Advocate's lead racist, Will Sutton, made a big deal about its closing & reasons for same. Lighten up, Alice.

Hi Nabor? It's very much still open.

If Lapalco and Ames, De Gaulle, and Leon C Simon can make it, then so can Florida at Ardenwood.

I will shop at that location regularly as long as it’s managed well. Won’t go there after dark if I can avoid it, though.

Rouses opened up at what I thought was a really bad location several years ago near my folks on the Westbank (Ames & Lapalco in Marrero) but that store is surviving and thriving. They seem to have plenty of security on site, though.

Of course Ames & Lapalco was going to make it. Now that Winn Dixie in Avondale and the one in Westwego closed, that area was truly a food desert. Basically west of Baratria Blvd. there was no supermarket until you got to Luling. There was nothing in Waggaman, Avondale, Westwego, Bridge City, and Marrero up to Ames. That's a huge area, and a huge population not to have a supermarket.

Will it look just like other Rouses or will the windows & doors be heavily barred?
Better have armed security or off-duty cops ready to spring into action.
Will employees & customers feel safe going in & out at all hours of operation?

Not being racist...just being realistic!
