Rough story about a kid at my son's school

What's wrong with kids these days?
Won't use his name or anything. 8th grader. Picked on kids, including my son. He's been in trouble numerous times at scho.
My son came home about a week ago and said he got expelled for numerous things, but the main reason he got kicked was he pulled the fire alarm.
Son came home today and said he got arrested. My son was talking to his brother. Nice kid in the 6th grade. His brother said he put a pistol to his mom's chest and threatened to kill her. Got arrested and faces 5 years.
Wonder if there was some parental abuse going on. Sad thing is the younger brother was happy his older brother was taken away and no longer living there now.

The kid may need meds, he sounds unstable. Where did he get the gun? That's a little unnerving given all of the stuff in the news lately.

Yeah, just weirded me out hearing about this. I mean we hear stories like this on hers and in the news, but it kinda weirded me out because it was a kid my son actually knew.
The kid could've done something much worse.. like bring a gun or some other weapon to school maybe.. little scary since it's pretty close to home.
