But the rehab is critical. Big sling for 5-6 weeks and do as much physical therapy as you can as often as you can and you will get a very good bit of your range of motion back. I don’t know Dr. Pope, Bankston did mine but make sure he’s also a shoulder guy-it’s not an easy one but if you do it right after 4 months you should be well recovered.

Get it fixed, it won't ever fix itself.

After surgery PT absolutely sucks. But don't do any more or any less than the doc and PT have you do. And do your home exercises.

Post RCT surgery PT is hell on earth.

Could be bursitis. I have had several and can’t lift my arms above 45 degrees. With the injection, I have to guide it in until I feel it hit the bursa and tell them to plunge or else it doesn’t work. When it does work, it’s immediate. Just an FYI, my wife and SIL are both physical therapist and both say the recovery is a PITA.

Hurt my shoulder couple months ago at the gym on the fly machine. Stayed away from doing any exercises with that type of movement along with taking aleve twice a day for a month. Doesn’t hurt doing push-ups, dips, flat or incline bench, dumbbell flyes, etc. But when I try doing cable flyes or get on the fly machine, nada, regardless of weight. 20lbs makes me tear up and quit after doing only a couple reps. Sleeping on it hurts and I’m tossing and turning at night. Made an appointment with Dr Craig Greene for next week to find out what is going on. Wife told her physical therapist about it and is pretty sure I have a partial rotator cuff tear.

drew brees did, and then he went on to "earn" 3 trips to the SB, even thought one was stolen by the NFL rigging the game and another one was taken away because of player stupidity, so the future is bright for you

Brees didn’t tear his rotator cuff. He tore his labrum.

OP. Go see Buddy Savoie at Tulane Sports Med

To the OP, there is no way I would have shoulder surgery with a doctor that doesn’t specialize in shoulders.

Can you lift your arm over your head without assistance?

Anyone ever deal with this? I’ve got an MRI scheduled for next week to confirm any tears. I’ve received the cortisone injection, but it didn’t touch it at all. Losing range of motion as well as flexibility. Surgery may be next. What should I expect?

If you genuiely have a rotator injury, you will have to get it dealt with otherwise the shoulder muscles can atrophy and you will get "frozen shoulder" and have a much more serious problem.

The surgery isn't painful and rehab isn't too bad I have had both shoulders done. A good six week process.

Have the surgery done, the sooner the better. Shoulders are a bitch to have fixed later. This comes from experience.

And for those of you who are complaining about minor tears in the rotator cuff....try getting a complete shoulder replacement ( or two, like I had to). They cut the rotator tendon completely in order to get to the shoulder joint/ humerus. You want to talk about a fun rehab? LOL You guys crack me up ....5lbs on a cable machine will have you squealing like Ned Beatty in Deliverance.

So OP, yes, get the surgery ASAP and good luck with the rehab... you won’t regret it

FYI....for those who think a RTC surgery is rough..... Link to steps in a shoulder replacement

I fricked my shoulder a week ago at jits. Heard or felt (can't remember which) a click, then serious pain shortly after. I've been waiting to see if it gets better before going to the doctor. Some improvement so far, but I'm still worried it may be a signficant injury. :/
