Anyone ever deal with this? I’ve got an MRI scheduled for next week to confirm any tears. I’ve received the cortisone injection, but it didn’t touch it at all. Losing range of motion as well as flexibility. Surgery may be next. What should I expect?

Surgery and in the future, don't jerk it so hard.

Pretty sure they amputate at this point. Hope it wasn’t your masturbating arm.

Seriously...the bone and Joint clinic is where I’d be. They are good at what they do.

Yeah. I’m seeing Dr. Pope there. He scoped my knee a few years ago and it’s great.

Surgery baw. Now, a room full of strangers are gonna have the chance to stick things up your butt hole while you are under and you can't do anything about it

Tore mine 2 years ago... Haven't had it fixed yet... Non dominant arm but I still golf and can still rub one out so all is good surgery and 60-90 sling/recovery was not an option ...

Answer is; if its torn, surgery is the only option.. It will not fix itself ...

It’s my non dominant arm as well. But can’t lift arm above shoulder height or behind my back. Something as simple as putting on a shirt is quite painful. I just want to get this over. Been dealing with it since September.

What are your symptoms, when I sleep on my right side my shoulder hurts to the point of waking me up.

I’m not going to lie, the recovery is brutal but it sounds like putting it off isn’t an option. I had it done in 2012, I had bone spurs that tore ligaments and also had a bone spur sawing into my RC. I went to 3 doctors 2 of them thought I was my neck after repeatedly telling them it was my shoulder. The last doctor was the doctor who did the surgery. I told him I was desperate and couldn’t see living with that pain any longer. As bad as the recovery was it was nothing like the pain I was dealing with before.

Don’t put it off too long. For a year my quality of life sucked.

I hear ya, pain will subside. I still have limited motion such that my shoulder wants to pop out of socket but the pain after the tear was gone after about 6 months..

I need to fix mine and money is not an issue.. I don't feel like dealing with the recovery and rehab...

Ain't got time for that !! Im Stubborn... Good luck ...

Sorry, just saw this post. That sounds really bad. It's going to depend on how bad it's torn. I know people that have partially torned cuffs and never had surgery. They've managed.

Pain in front and middle of shoulder that radiates down bicep and outside of arm if I move it above shoulder height or reach behind me. I took anti inflammatory meds for 6 weeks and did exercises with a band. The exercises that were painful was when I moved my forearm in and out with my elbow at my side.

Hurt mine a couple of years ago or less. Two shots and I'm doing anything I want. Sometimes surgery is the only option. Expect the surgery to be basically non event. 6-10 weeks of recovery and rehab will be a pain/frustrating.

What to expect....

If MRI confirms tears expect out patient surgery.

In the hospital in the am...out by mid pm early evening.

Expect pre op process to be standard fare. Happy juice... I had neck catheter put in for future nerve block...get put under.

Post op..
Sleep in a recliner for a week.
Enjoy the nerve block for pain relief.
Stitches out.
Sling for a couple of weeks.
Pyshical therapy for a few weeks.
Do your own therapy at home per orders, it really helps the recovery.

4 - 6 months later enjoy 75% movement... Your mileage may vary.

6 - 9 months later depending on severity back to normal.

Thanks. My wife is a PT so I guess she’ll be supervising my home therapy if I have the surgery. Thanks for the replies.
