Root canal question

I've had quite a few root canals. Had a couple of them done by a regular dentist.


All of those done by a regular dentist have had to be redone later on by a specialist fyi.

I’m a dentist and I would definitely recommend having a specialist (endodontist) do a root canal on a molar particularly. I have seen too many patients walk through my door with shotty root canals from a general dentist. Don’t get me wrong, there are a lot of good GPs out there who are more than capable of doing high quality work, but sadly they are becoming far and few between with the emergence of corporate offices where low “in-network” insurance reimbursement means quantity over quality and offices not referring to specialists when they should. At least that’s my take. Do yourself a favor and get a second opinion

this is Dental Truth. the "drive thru dental clinic" put the money before care. Fact. Further, it's hard finding a real dentist that takes new patients that worth a damn.

I just removed a molar on one of my patients that had a root canal done by the specialist and then retreated by another specialist.

I removed the failing tooth, did a bone graft and patient will have an implant done after it heals.

Wife had one done by her dentist a couple of week ago. Procedure went fine. Still had issues, dentist sent her to an endodontist and she thought there was a hidden canal.
Dentist went back in and found hidden canal. No issues since.

Would prefer the endodontist do the 2nd procedure, but she wasn't available.

I had 2 root canals... One by my regular dentist, and one by an endodontist.. The endo hurt much more, but the endo was needed because my canals were calcified over and needed the specialist. Felt like someone punched me in my face that afternoon..


Sucked it up and still won a bass tournament that same evening...

Goto the specialist. My dad had me so worked up about the one I had to have I was a nervous wreck, wasn’t bad at all.

Tell em' to BRING THE PAIN!
