This can't surprise anybody.
A bunch of actual Baws in a confined space for weeks at a time? What could go wrong?

If it gets shut down, it will be because they are running out of places to send oil onshore. Storage around the world is full.
Most companies operating offshore have taken drastic measures such as extending their hitches and cutting the offshore staff. In some cases they have put only one person to a room to help with the distancing.
They are very much limiting third party vendors from coming out unless is safety or production critical work that is needed.

I came down with regular flu once offshore.

The same thing happens just about every year with the flu. The difference now is that all the operators I know have sent non-essentials home and shut down any on going projects. They’re are just staffed enough to maintain production. They’ve also transitioned from 14/14 to 21/21 or 28/28 so as to limit the amount of coming and going. You also need to get your temperature checked before you can even step foot in the heliports.
All in all I think they’ll be fine. If anything, they’re better off than a typical cold/flu season.

I know for a fact that there have been confirmed cases out there for at least 3 weeks now.

You can only keep people who live a secretive drug fueled lifestyle in check for so long. Once then hit land, they go batshit with parting and fricking skanky whores. Then they take whatever they picked up back home directly to the rigs. Shocker!!
Would love to see a roustabout take a wrench to your head.

Yeah, people who have to take pre-employment and random drug test are known to live secretive drug fueled lifestyles lives.
Alcohol, now, you might be onto something.

Sounds like you're talking about divers to me.
