I overheard it a bit this AM when making breakfast. I'm pretty sure I heard him use the classic "My problem is I care TOO MUCH... I have TOO big a heart!" line

That's the thing, if ot wasn't for all the indisputable evidence against him. Such as marriage certificate with 15 year old Aaliyah. Or the sex tape with 14 year pld who happened to be a singer he discovered niece.
If he was innocent, shouldn't there be atleast 1 ex who could come out to deny everything. 1 girl who states that Kelly was actually a great man, far from the monster he is portrayed as and he would never sleep with an under age girl. That has not happened.

You obviously didn't see or hear the R. Kelly interview. He went about as extreme as you can get. Cavanaugh was actually in a hearing that lasted hours about accusations that had zero corriboration even from the accuser's friends who were supposedly there. Slightly different.

I don't think I've ever seen worse optics. I don't know what he intended to do with this interview, but it sure did not help.
