Goodnight, Sweet Prance.

Richard Simmons is probably the first celebrity that I asked myself, "Why are they famous?"

I've aways like him. I think he was a real genuine person who really cared about people and making them happy. RIP Richard

Damn. Can’t believe he made it to 76. I’ve read most homo men have an average lifespan like 20-30 years shorter than heterosexual men.

My all time favorite clip.

Read about him. All snarky bullshite aside, he was a wonderful human being who really cared for people.

He helped hundreds of thousands of people improve their health and self image.
His public persona was a highly exaggerated version of his regular personality. Cool dude in person. (If you were in Kiwanis 20-25 years ago you crossed paths with him at some point.)

He was kind, helped a lot of people, and was who he was without being preachy or playing a victim. He was also entertaining, in small doses.

I can imagine a second line of epic proportions.

He turned into a hermit about 10 years ago for unclear reasons

Not for a lack of transparency...

He is. I was just posting a current pic of the KCNO board. A lot of OTers probably know Lenny.

Here's an interesting article with a timeline of events chronicling the years after Simmons' sudden disappearance from the public:

So far TMZ is the only outlet reporting…
Usually with celebrity deaths TMZ is the standard.
I thought he had passed a few years ago. I guess not. RIP to the odd duck.

Well that's sad. Strange fella obviously, but he seemed genuinely good.

My condolences to all the male escort services Richard has patronized over the years
