If shopping in that price range, I would just get a land cruiser
LOL. You have any idea what Land Cruiser MSRP is? These are not the same price range unless you’re shopping a loaded Defender 110.

It looks strange, and it’s not something I’d use in the back country.
They should have looked at their competitors in this market.
Jeep has done a great job updating the Wrangler. Mercedes has done a fine job with the Gelundewagen.
That’s how you do it.

All the more reason to buy a Land Cruiser.

Land Rover is now an Indian company.
And you can see that influence in the designs. It’s really not the company that it was.
They’ve followed the money, which is was prudent, and become a lifestyle brand.
They’ve also gotten really garish. Which is unfortunate.

BMW and Ford fixed Land Rover. The third generation Range Rover, the Range Rover Sport, and the Discovery III were well built and reliable cars.

BULL. shite.
Two of my colleagues dumped their Ranges last year after they were constantly in the shop.

No projection. I drive a Tacoma.

My Land Rover spent almost more time in the shop than in my garage.

So have I and I feel the same way you do. The Gwagon redo this year is a fantastic example of how to pull it off. They completely blew it.

Well, that’s just not true, is it?

Wtf, so what about a Land Rover looks Indian? What would Indian design even look like - a tuktuk??
FYI, read any review on the Land Rover lineup, especially the Range Rover, and they praise it for still having off-road prowess while delivering top notch luxury. Not sure if you were aware, but LR has been a premium/luxury off road brand for majority of its history...everything they build still falls within that pedigree.

BMW did not fix the Rover. It was mostly Ford/Jaguar and Tata Motors. I’d argue more so Tata Motors bc the 3rd gen Range Rover could hardly be considered a reliable vehicle. Resale value tells that story.
ETA: and you praised the G wagon earlier. In what world is a Range Rover more garish than a G wagon?

You've seen the silly colored lights on the latest generation of Range Rovers?
They look like jingle trucks.

They moved into the luxury market in the 90s.

The Freelander? The Evoque? The Sport?
You're going to rip off the body cladding to start with.

BMW did not fix the Rover.
They completed overhauled production practices, vehicles were no longer hand painted!, cancelled the P38, and initiated development on the L322, the first reliable vehicle LR produced. They're also deserve credit for the Discovery 3, and the Range Rover Sport.

The BMW block leaked oil. And that's about it.

Resale value tells that story.
It tells you how desirable it is on the secondary market.
