Id rather be a rich man with an moderately attractive wife than a moderately ok man with a hot wife. When you have a hot wife everyone wants to bang her and chances are she will better deal you.

Unless one plans to constantly switch to a newer more efficient model this will almost always be the result long term. Most people I know didn't marry the most attractive person they "could have married". Just because you are rich doesn't mean you are shallow.
