Had 2 or 3 Cars albums in the early 80's. I had no idea he was that old though.

Number 3 on that bandstand of death will be Jerry Lee Lewis though.. Book it!

Grew up listening to The Cars. They are part of the soundtrack of my youth. This one and Eddie Money hurts.

I think he's jamming with Ben Orr too.

Ben Orr had a great song when he went solo for a while with "Stay the Night." That's a really cool song.

Ric also went solo for a while and "Emotion in Motion" is a great song too.

You never hear them anymore.

Plus all of the hits The Cars had. Drive, You're All I've got Tonight, Tonight She Comes, You Might Think, etc. Even "You Are the Girl." I had a double CD of their greatest hits.

Sad to hear about this.

don't want to turn this into a music debate but that time frame opened up the door foor a lot of mediocre talent to get on the charts as "rockers," disco had R&R on the ropes, punk was starting to get momentum, a lot of the first gen rock bands were either broken up, dead, in rehab, burned out, etc.

They were together 28 years. That's a helluva supermodel / rock star run.

The Cars were known for their boring shows. They walked on stage, put their head down and played their songs, then walked offstage.

It was considered one of their better performances if they moved more than a couple of steps from their spot on stage or acknowledged the crowd at all.

Their first couple of albums were amazing. The next several completely blew. Never understood why they changed their sound so much.
