Did it ever occur to anyone that the reason we see “higher rates” of autism is because of expanded research on autism and wider acceptance of people with special needs in society?

If you were even remotely slow a long time ago, you were lobotomized and kept in a mental hospital forever (which is what happened to Bobby’s aunt)
