This looks very promising. It's incredible how far cancer research and treatment has come in just the last 20 years:

quote:

A treatment revolution that could reduce cancer from a killer disease to a chronic condition is announced by British scientists today.

They will develop new drugs under a £75million programme that is the ‘best chance yet’ of beating the illness.

Instead of ‘shock and awe’ chemotherapy, with its cruel side effects, they will target ways of stopping cancer cells resisting treatment. In combination with existing medication, tumours will either be beaten completely or their growth limited to allow patients to live much longer.

Hopefully this will strike a major blow to cancer.

That’s great. Yes there is been some great advancements in recent years. My brother just got the same treatment that Jimmy Carter had and it saved his life a few months ago.

I remember reading not too long ago about a doctor in Philadelphia who was “reprogramming” the HIV virus, because it’s so damned good at self replicating, to only attack specific cancer cells.

I think our current batch of children will be as amazed by our ways of fighting cancer as we are by the telegraph.

I look forward to that day ... like everyone else on this board, I’ve lost friends and family to cancer.

The real powers to be will never let the commoners get a cure for cancer, if you believe that you’re living in denial about your place in this world. We’re the peasants and overpopulation is huge for these people. Just look at bill gates and why he fights so hard for vaccinations. He really cares about you and your kids life. Most want to come back as a deadly virus after they die if you read about them and their agendas.

If drugs have been around since the Revolution, why are we just now using them?

...But the powers to be decided to allow exponentially advanced medical technology and medicine over the past century...

They should use the measles virus instead.

I’m with you. Sorry man. I love dogs.

My 4yr old nephew has brain cancer. And my uncle just got diagnosed with some rare thyroid cancer. Cancer sucks.

That’s a quote from prince Phillip and that’s their mode of thinking. Note also this was 30 years ago, Keep lining up sheep.

I agree with this. Cancer is probably the biggest money maker in the medical industry.

They’ll let some things through but something as important to the elite as cancer will never be allowed, unless a newer, more deadly disease is introduced, which is likely. They spend billions in research trying to find a way to cull the population by shorting lives.

I really hope it's sooner than that. I'm 31 and cancer is very preventable in my family, as it is in so many others. I'd be lying if I said it wasn't something that worries me from time to time. Such a horrible way to go.

Is it? I would bet that either allergies or obesity related treatments and drugs are bigger money makers.

Unless you’re looking for research grants. Then I’d suspect it cancer or maybe HIV/AIDS. But I think some of the luster has gone off of HIV/AIDS research as they have effectively turned it into a manageable chronic disorder instead of a death sentence.

a cure cannot be revealed. there will be so many people that would lose their job and hospitals would fold or be shut down instantly. now.........to turn it into a chronic disease would certainly help keep these places BOOMING.

Just an observation.....

What kind of person (and I use the term loosely) "downvotes" the original post?

Obviously someone who doesn't have or doesn't know anyone who has cancer.
