Im MWD. 14 and 14 schedule. I don't want to be a DD. I could never keep my cool if a company man is constantly calling over dumb shite.

SLB is a pump and dump serial downsizer but anyone who works for them should know that already and assume the risk.

Baker does this as well.

All good. WFH geosteering now. Contemplate going back to MWD/DD occasionally but have a young un and we’re doing pretty good financially.

I went from MWD to DD to geosteering with some well planning in between I hate everyone now

I went MWD to DD to mud. Also went from hating everyone to just chuckling every time some junior whiz kid drilling engineer-turned company man fricks themselves.

We have to make sure our negotiated JOAs and AFEs we send out align with our BU’s CAPEX and OPEX goals so we can hit our goal DPI for a successful ROI.

MWD - measurement while drilling - nerds of the rig, nothing gets done without them but you treat them like shite

DD - directional driller - make most money but also angriest, usually are coonasses for some reason

Discounted Profitability Index. Basically a way to compare the profitability off of the initial investment of your project, but factoring time value of money coming in, due to inflation/devaluation of the dollar over time.

I don’t think it’s merely an O&G industry term, but the industry is where I learned about it.

Now I can follow these threads and not have to rely on Billie Bob Thornton to explain to me.

Interesting stuff and thanks.

They don't ever stop. It's a constant churn, and they send everything they can overseas.

They've had a hiring freeze on and been active in RIF like everyone else over on this side of the pond.
