We still pay for that "swipe" whether it was a debit or credit card. Also, you have what is called a discount. Mine is 5% meaning if you tipped $10 I am only getting $9.50 on the back end. You pay for the swipe to use their network and you pay for them to front the tip money

Hopefully they learn to get a job at a different restaurant that doesn't use these tactics.

Went to one in Monroe Friday night charged a Credit Card fee and it was actually a debit card. i will not be back
Many processing companies, like PayPal point of sale just for example, charge on All cards, debit or credit.
And before you csay change companies. Small businesses do. And it's like changing a phone carrier with multiple users.
And then the new company " updates " their terms to make it worse than the 1st company.
I agree that its BS to not publicize the fees.
However, people who think most businesses are getting squeezed every which way for processing cards just has no experience dealing with it.

So how do you feel about car dealers tacking on previously unmentioned fees as your sitting down to sign?
I didn't mention fees, dummy. The poster I was responding to was whining about the price of "feeding a family." A dealer adds fees at signing, you walk away, and go to CarMax, Carvana, TexasDirectAuto, or any other of hundreds of places. Your retort sucks and is unrelated to my post.
All of you were paying the credit card fees anyway, but the savior of the little guy, Dodd-Frank, changed the rules for merchants, banks, and processing networks. Blame Congress.

For a mere $8, you can buy the kitchen at City Pork Jefferson a 6 pack of beer. Prolly Natty Light, but after they cook me up some nachos and a brisket sammich, I like to reward them.
Can’t believe all the complaints abt a 4% up charge. Sounds like something my 82 year old dad would bitch about. He never gets the check at City Pork. ??

Take it up with the manager not the wait staff working their way through college who gave your table great service. Do you really think thye are going to jeopardize their jobs by raising ehll with their boss?
That would require effort and take more than just bitching and moaning at the nearest worker, and the manager is more likely to argue back than the worker who has to put up with the bloviating from the public AND their boss.
