Waitr is pretty awful if you ask me. You are designated to work scheduled times and as the customer you pay a delivery fee and also asked to add an additional tip. When all said in done you pretty much pay what you would going to a restaurant. Ubereats on the other hand has a flat fee, which is like $4-6 pending on time of day.
Postmates just came to NOLA so probably about to start using that.

You're missing the point. It's not about egos, or job titles, or anything else. It's some really effing simple economics.
quote:Again, if someone "below" me is making a decent livable wage, why is it my concern?
Let me take another shot at breaking it down for you. How would you feel if you suddenly made less money relative to everyone working below you
quote:Again, if the wages were raised at the bottom across the board and no other wages moved, it would only put more money into the economy. That would increase demand and thus supply. The increase to supply would make prices decrease if it exceeds demand in some cases. (see current oil markets)
and that same amount of money now bought you less than it used to?
quote:There is no real skill in working in a basic restaurant. Unless we are talking 4-5 star places here, what skill is needed? Those places need culinary trained chefs, O'Charley's doesn't.
Someone needs to handle the more skilled aspects of running those places, and they're not going to take unskilled ($15/hr) money to do it.
quote:Like I said, cross train all none management employees to do multiple jobs. That way they would be worth more. Plus, this done all the time now. How many people get promoted to manager a flat salary? They are robbed of their overtime and have to take on more responsibilities and more work.
He says, hey, I want you to work more hours, and be responsible for the schedules, dealing with customers, and managing some of the books. More work, more responsibility, and I'm going to still pay you $15.
Are you starting to understand the point?
My point is that we aren't talking about anything technical or that requires a great deal of skill, we are talking about manual labor and we are talking about just one industry. Mixing shitty drinks takes no more skill or education than seating a table or taking an order.

Dying off and not even a recession to blame.

Dominos is about to have a truck that drives to your house and makes the pizza for you in your driveway.

The fact that you keep coming back with these responses tells me that you don't have a basic understanding of economics, and therefore there is no sense in me continuing to respond. I've you're not getting it after what I've explained thus far, it isn't happening.

If you have a minor in econ as you say, this just makes you look even more like a retard.
Nothing stagnates innovation and upward mobility more than a socialistic and communist approach to economics.
