Able? Of course. Should they be forced to do so? Of course not.

Those are perfectly reasonable charges
I disagree. Splitting a check isn't that hard, and I always roll my eyes when restaurants make a big stink over it. If its a table of like 10, and everyone is splitting checks, then ok, but splitting a check 2 or 3 ways is not difficult.
And +3$ because we want to split a meal? The frick is that?

Hmmm, I wonder if there are any other options for kids at a restaurant.

children were “running through the restaurant” - they were down by the river.. we were told we need to “go to Burger King and Walmart” and that we were bad parents. They have a $50 surcharge for “bad children.”

I’m fully in favor of this.
Actually I’d prefer adult only restaurants and other places. I don’t hate kids I have them but the ignorant parents make me want to.
Nothing trashier than letting your demon seed spawns ruin the time of everyone you around because you suck at being a parent and are lazy. And usually 40 a 50 pound over weight.

I can understand the complaint about it being vague. That being said, everyone still knows exactly what they need to in order to not incur the fee. Fine with it. Their policy, it will work or it won't.

If we are being honest, I know exactly what this is being aimed at and for what reason. I've also been to plenty of places that don't allow separating checks at all.

These quotes always crack me up. My kids are older and were little before the tablet days but how is this different than restaurants having sports on TVs 24/7 and adults watching while they eat?

Most higher end restaurants (in our area at least) charge a fee for sharing plates unless it’s a tapas situation.

That's overboard. You ate the food. "Run my credit card for the food amount only so your server can get a tip, or the charge will be reversed by the cc company." It's ridiculously easy to get a cc charge reversed. Particularly without a signed receipt. May take a couple weeks, but it will get done b/c the restaurant won't have the paper trail they need.

Every kid has a tablet, I don't take anyone seriously that acts like their kids don't get screen time.
Yes, some parents are absolutely lazy and just give their kids screen time to shut them up. But they are in the vast minority.

It's just not that big of deal unless your kid is just locked on the thing constantly. And even then, depending on what they're doing, it's debatable if it's having a negative affect.

I am frugal, and sometimes cheap, I couldn't give a frick less. Maybe things should stop being so unaffordable. I also very rarely eat more than half of what this morbidly obese country considers a "full portion."

Are you also perturbed by restaurants that won’t let adults order off the children’s menu?

My 7 year old has one. Sometimes I need to take it away from her because she acts like a prick
Too bad we're keeping her from her potential by allowing screen time.

I'd love to see an HONEST poll. I wonder how many people can actually say they had their dinner ruined by other people's kids. I've seen bad kids in restaurants but I've never thought, "frick this, now I can't eat." You just talk shite about the parents, eat your dinner and move on.

To be fair, restaurants with TVs on showing sports likely don’t care about the customer’s etiquette. I’m assuming the restaurant in OP is a higher end restaurant not a sports bar and grill
