Maybe I should have said cush duty assignment, not job.

Seems a reasonable concession. So you're saying it is less dangerous to join and work in the military than to have a civilian job? I'm skeptical.

5200 is a percentage of what? All workers in America? All workers with dangerous jobs? What do the military numbers look like?

While some may be in “cush” Euro spots, an overwhelming majority are in Afghanistan and Iraq. You wouldn’t last a month over there pussy.

And the overwhelming majority of those jobs in Afghan/Iraq are cush.

I'm not saying the people deployed in Europe are not doing anything.

I was in at that same period of time. The Panama gig was NOT active combat. Sounds like you volunteered for extra service, or lying about the period of time. I went their myself. For 2 weeks only. The gulf war deployment was for the 205th out of Monroe only. And they spent quite a bit of time training in Texas prior to deployment.
Not sure what your beef is. Sounds like you are complaining just to be complaining.

fact way more people have been killed working on the flight deck of a carrier than naval aviators have in combat and in training.... you and the comedian are ignorant....

flight deck of a carrier is one of the single biggest targets in the military world.....

Being deployed in Asia is hazardous: there are things antibiotics don’t touch there.

I never said I was in active combat in Panama. I was stationed there for nearly 3 months, living in a hotel in Panama City, overlooking the Pacific and the canal. This was in 1988. There were only ten of us, no officers. We helped the active MP's on their regular duties, because of the rising resistance with Noriega and the PDF.

"Helping Hand" (or "Just Cause", I forget the name) was a year later. I wasn't there.

Like I said, it was a great assignment. I almost went active duty when I got back to go back to Panana, but I wouldn't have gone to Panana.

My unit wasn't activated for Desert Storm, but the 39th in NO was, and they asked for volunteers. 12 of us went from the 239th with the 39th.
