Requesting advice from the physicians/WebMDers of the OT

ib4 "go see a doctor"
I've had this for a while (at least 6 months), but one of my nostrils restricts when I lay down. It is usually my right nostril, but sometimes my left.
When I sit up, it opens back up pretty quickly.
I don't have any allergies that I'm aware.
It has just makes sleep pretty crappy.
Any help from the nasal nerds out there would be appreciated.

You been doing drugs, or did you get punched in the nose at sonic ?
Deviated septum is a very common cause of nasal valve collapse. ... Trauma or nose surgery can cause nasal valve collapse as a result of inflammation, enlarged tissue, or possibly the formation of scar tissue.

Lots of causes, most common being the normal physiology of the "nasal cycle" a little nasal congestion cycles from one side to the other over several hours day and night. Some people, if they have other conditions causing narrowing of the nasal airway (deviated septum, enlargement of nasal tissues, allergies, etc) will become more aware of the cycle and it becomes more bothersome. If it doesn't bother you too much and you don't have other symptoms don't worry about it. If it is consistently interfering with your sleep our quality of life you should get your nose looked at by an otolaryngologist (ENT). Some people do find that simple measures, like "Breath Rite" strips are helpful. If you don't have allergy symptoms meds are less likely to be helpful.

I had a nasal polyp that did the same thing. Not saying it’s what is but was most noticeable at night while trying to sleep.

Its a polyp. Go to your local EENT. I had one in each nostril that did the same. The Dr put this instrument up my nose and clipped them. Is a simple and painless procedure. That was about ten years ago, no problem since.

Get some Flonase but it will take a few weeks to really kick in.
Sinus cones work well for when you’re sleeping—probably more effective than breathe rite strips
I can reduce your inferior turbinates for long term relief. LMK

Stick a piece of uncooked penne pasta in each nostril before bed
