Some Beaumont Kelly high school students are also missing. Very sad.

I’ve never seen one of these floods up close. It’s hard for me to fathom how quickly water rises and how fast it moves. I’ve never been in a strong current, so I’m unsure of how the water gets moving so fast and can move houses.

While not the same scenario as this flood, this video from Arizona a couple years ago shows how fast water can come up when it has run off and is starting to head towards the lowest geographical point.

Reed and crew did a good job showing the concept. Today's flood in Texas had around 6 times the amount of water that this video was dealing with.

Just got the news that one of our good friends daughter is among the missing and another was one of the rescued. This is horrible.

That front wall debris flow is a big part of the initial damage caused. It acts as a dam, slowing flow and prematurely sending the river beyond its banks. Larger debris gets swept away, too. That can cause damage to infrastructure and homes before the water takes its toll.

With the extreme drought out that way, there are plenty of dead plants, grasses, trees, etc. that get swept up in the leading wall of water.

Is this camp a Christian camp? If so, this flood is certain to fully test people's faith.

I see you’re getting a lot of shite about this. And I’m here to add to that because that’s a really shitty thing to think about when we’re talking about kids missing.

I know 3 families wrapped up in this. They’re just normal people who go to church when they can.

My wife and I were just there in May. We camped in the West Texas Hill Country for over 3 weeks. And we're looking at all of the videos of this catastrophic flooding. A lot of those places are where we went. We ate at Howdy's Restaurant and there is a campground right behind it on the Guadeloupe River. The campground was wiped out. We walked Louise May Park. It's now under 25-30 feet of water. Kerville, Hunt and Ingram Texas devastated were places we visited or camped. I just told my wife that if our trip was one month later, we would probably be there now. It's sad to see the devastation because it's beautiful country. The pictures that we took when we were there didn't do it justice.

Just saw a Facebook post stating that 26 camp girls showed up at the Ingram fire department via helicopter. Take this as unverified. .

I hope that is true and not related to the since-deleted Xwitter post earlier in this thread. It had a similar number.
