BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Many people complain about traffic problems in Baton Rouge and now, a new study ranks the Capital City as the second most dangerous city to drive in the US.

An analysis by NerdWallet looked at deadly crashes and other factors to determine which cities are the most dangerous for drivers.

"Yet another report has independently verified what Baton Rouge area drivers unfortunately already know based on experience, which is that our roads are not only the worst in the state but among the worst in the nation for traffic congestion, road conditions, and now safety for drivers, according to this new study," said Scott Kirkpatrick, executive director of Capital Region Industry for Sustainable Infrastructure Solutions (CRISIS). "We thank Governor Edwards for establishing a much-needed task force on these issues and look forward to working with the task force to address the uniquely multifaceted challenges facing the Baton Rouge Area."

Our roads are pretty bad, but that problem is only made exponentially worse by our absolutely retarded motorists.

People in Baton Rouge are not only bad drivers, it's like they go out of their way to do stupid shite on the road.

Well, a 90 degree curve on an interstate that reduces traffic to one lane for a shot time sure doesn't help matters.

They go out of their way to do stupid shite only because their normal way of doing stupid shite is clogged with traffic.

if all Prairieville people wouldn't all get on the road at the same time it wouldn't be so bad.

Drivers face higher risks in cities in the South and East Coast. Thirteen of the 20 most dangerous cities are located in the South or on the East Coast. Twelve of the 20 safest places are in the Midwest and West, and three of the 20 safest places for drivers are in Arizona.

Scottsdale, AZ was ranked #19 on the safest list

In Detroit, our most dangerous city for drivers, you’ll pay 642% more, on average, for car insurance than in our safest place, Cary, North Carolina.

I've driven 18 wheelers in all over the continental 48, and I can assure you that this list is accurate. Baton Rouge is TERRIBLE when it comes to driving - much worse than NOLA. Jackasses on the interstates using on ramps to pass traffic, idiots passing 18 wheelers on the shoulders, soccer moms having to change lanes at EVERY red light to get 1 car length closer, everyone constantly tailgating each other, and it just seems like nobody knows what lane they need to be in when they get to their destinations - especially on the interstates with the exits. Also, look at the daily accident reports and see how many hit & runs happen along with people getting charged for driving without insurance.

Need to make it harder for people to get a license. Less bad drivers on the road, less traffic. Problem solved.

Drive without a license, treat it as someone drinking and driving.

In AZ, once you get a license it doesn't expire until you are 65. Thus making AZ one of the easiest states to get a license(since you never have to renew it until you are a senior citizen). There is a high snowbird population here in the cooler months meaning a very high percentage of older drivers on the roads during those months....meaning much more traffic during that time of year. We even have numerous people on the roads driving without a license that are not even in the country legally. If you get in an auto accident in AZ you are silently praying that the other person is a legal U.S. citizen because otherwise it's gonna be a massive pain in the arse trying to get your car repaired with the insurance companies.

Yet we still have 3 cities on the safest list.

Having just returned from Dallas, I'm shocked not to see them higher than BR.

Most stressful driving ever.

True. The snowbirds just drive really slow on the freeways, but still decent drivers for the most part. The illegals driving also don't drive too reckless either cause they don't want to get pulled over and their legal status made known to police.
