Um this seems like a pretty simple solution. Rent the car, and drive it yoruself

I Know he could drive one of our vehicles and we drive the rental but I do not want to do that since I really need my truck for work and the wife car is too new and she doesn't want him driving it to school.
Sounds like your 18 year old is going to be riding his bike to school then

Sounds like an issue the at-fault insured's company needs to figure out.

Rental companies don’t want to rent your 18 year old for the same reason you don’t want him/her to drive your car.
This sums it up.

Why don't you just get the rental car, take it to your house, then tell the 18 year old to drive it and he/she better not get pulled over or in a wreck.
Problem solved.

If the other driver was insured tell their adjuster that you need a temporary replacement vehicle and let him make the arrangements for the rental and have it billed direct to them. Don't get directly involved in the rental details; it shouldn't be your problem.
The same thing applies if you have rental coverage on your own policy--let your insurance company make the arrangements.
The insurance companies send a lot of business to car rental companies and it's a lot easier for them to get the rules bent than it is for you.
Second way is to get the rental and let him drive it anyway IF your auto insurance has him on your policy and covers the rental car. My insurance covers the rental car when I rent one for personal use, and it covers every member of my family that has a driver's license in my household. Likely the same for the OP.

Is your son a dipshit? My parents never cared if I drove their cars.

Does a bus pass by your house? Sometimes people got to do shite they don't like. If not then your only other options is for your wife to drive the rental. But yeah, it's common knowledge that you cant rent a vehicle at 18.

So someone slammed into the back of our 18 year old car and it needs to be in the body shop for a few weeks. Problem is every rental company I have checked says person has to be at least 21 to drive the rental. He needs transportation for school and work anyone been in the same situation? I Know he could drive one of our vehicles and we drive the rental but I do not want to do that since I really need my truck for work and the wife car is too new and she doesn't want him driving it to school.

You could rent a pickup truck.
The National Car Rental lot at most airports always have at least a dozen Ford F-150s sitting around.

My senior year of high school my car got rear ended and I didn’t have any problems getting a rental. Insurance company hooked me up, talk to them not the rental places.
