Ponchos was a regular outing for members of TGBFTL back in the day. That place was fantastic.

They didn’t have Mexican pizzas there so I would go to Taco Bell on vets and sneak in and eat them in there a long with the buffet. I got caught and kicked out. We would go every Thursday night when we were seniors in high school. A good buddy of mine would eat the buffet and go puke in the bathroom so he could go eat more

May have been Pedros Tacos or something like that.

It was - google search confirmed.

Now, late 80’s and I think only open for a few years, what was the name of the tavern attached to and behind the chimes.

True story. I waited tables during college at Churrascos in Houston. One of our head waiters worked at Ponchos many years earlier. Told me that the reason their refuted beans at Ponchos were so smooth and creamy is because most of the left over bread from tables was put into the beans. They even washed the cinnamon/sugar off the sopapillas and put them in the beans.

Like I said... true story.

Panchos on Vets

They had a Mexican Buffet on Judge Perez Dr. in the Buccaneer Villa subdivision that was also one time one of those Country & Western clubs when "Urban Cowboy" came out if I remember right.

Not sure if the Mexican place was a Pancho's, but I remember it being pretty good for what it was.

We used to go to the one on Vets in the 1970's, but I remember the fancy one that used to be in the CBD.

There are three or four Pancho's left in and around Dallas. I don't pass through without a stop at one of them.

I'm sure someone's already mentioned 2 Amigos in Metarie/Kenner. They are exactly like Panchos, no joke.

I went to Panchos with a few friends from church. I asked who was going to say grace, one of my buddies said we aren’t saying grace because he is sure God wouldn’t approve.

Panchos at Broadmoor was our go-to after church lunch place.

Word. I'll bet our families sat next to each other a dozen times on Sundays after church.

True story in that he told you that, maybe. Not a bit of truth if he actually said that.

Brother, come to Kenner, LA and eat as Dos Amigos.

You will only be slightly disappointed that they don’t have Mexican flags. Everything else 100%

It had been at least 20 years since I'd been in a Panchos until last October when I drove through Dallas on my way back to Louisiana from San Jose. But my go to 'first round' was just the same....Two each, cheese, beef, and tex mex enchiladas, three tacos, and away I went....
