I am very troubled by the widespread efforts to inflict economic and reputational ruin on individuals for merely voicing opinions which deviate from the approved doctrine of the moment. It is antithetical to democracy.

As George Carlin said, “if you think you have rights in this country, look up Japanese Americans 1940’s, and you will learn all about your precious rights.” Or you could just look at the past few months, the right to assemble has been taken away. I understand the reasoning behind it, but IMO if rights only exist as long as the government says they do, then it makes a mockery out of the whole thing and they don’t really exist in the way most people would like to think.

Government can do whatever they want. Lincoln suspended the 2nd amendment and Habeas corpus during the civil war which also was a violation of the constitution
