Doesn't look like a lot of moisture with this system, but winds look to be pretty significant. If you think it might be an issue with driving the truck, you may want to postpone. Maybe get to Memphis and re-evaluate? The weather forecasts in the winter are not very accurate past a day or so out. Make sure you're prepared for the wind chill-it's supposed to be -40ish in central MO. Also want to buy a snow shovel before you get there, maybe have it shipped to your new home from Amazon? You couldn't find them here a couple of weeks ago. Good luck on your new adventure!

My Father's family are from just east of where you are going to live (they are in Clay County). It's flat. The soil is excellent for growing things. People up there enjoy fishing and if you do, you should have no problem finding fishing buddies. Cooking and eating out are going to be bland compared to south Louisiana.

Make sure your car door locks work before going through East St Louis. Then don't.

Hunting along the rough lands near the Ohio River isn't that fare away.

I think you will find midwesterners to be good neighbors and generally ethical.

There are lots of places worse to live in and watch your children grow.
