I believe your regions are too vast. Hell there’s plenty horror just in the southern states to segment. Louisiana swamps, hills of Appalachia, trail of tears, etc…

He’ll just in New Orleans there was voodoo, Marie Laveau, Madam LaLaurie, pirates, the Axeman

Just from name alone I'm gonna say the skinwalker wins for scariest boogieman in the country.

The locals in NM seem to be terrified of them. I believe they are witches that take the shape of animals so you can't see 'em then they snatch you like that the minute you turn your head.

College Drive Walmart lacks horror tradition but can be incredibly dark and spooky after dusk.
