Reducing Goodwood at Airline by one lane

They repaved Goodwood west of Airline and decided to reduce it by one lane. Typical of Baton Rouge, they think that fewer lanes are the answer to our traffic problems.
Prior to the “fix”, Goodwood had two eastbound lanes and expanded to four at the intersection, allowing for a left turn and right turn lane. Now the right lane “becomes” a right turn lane, with no advanced signage. So you have people driving along and realizing at the last minute that they can’t go straight.
Adding to the cluster is that you have people in our neighborhood who know there is room for four lanes and try to use them as such. So it becomes a small version of New Delhi rush hour as you have cars in and out of lanes trying to cross Airline.
I’d complain to the city but I’m sure that their answer would be to add a bike lane and a pedestrian island.

City probably paid some buddy of the mayor 1 million to consult on the changes there

So do you vote yes or no for 0.5 percent sales tax hike on December 8th for this bullshite traffic fix? I wonder how many from proposed SG will vote yes just to leave BR screwed?

I don’t mind sales taxes for traffic fixes.
It’s when they start adding to property taxes that pisses me off.

Id like to punch the person in the face who decided to remove that extra lane. I'd like to think they are just so incompetent and forgot to put it back.

OP,
The striping on Goodwood between airline and lobdell is still the temp markings.

Safer for the protesters outside BRPD

Them fricking Bluebonnet at I-10 still blows my mind. Let’s make the left lane which has continued on as a through lane for 20 years a turn lane onto I-10 with no advanced warning.

It’s been over a month. Why would you put temp markings in the wrong place and then leave them there after seeing your error?

Hmmmmm. Does anybody doubt that we have some real dummies running this town?

I got jammed up in that one just the other day. I was like ‘WTF?’.

It was the worst zipper merge design in existence. Good riddance.

I drive it daily.
They had it closed even yesterday to work on some expansion joints.

Baton Rouge is so fricked for the future and they keep fricking themselves even more with moves like this.

So do I. The lines have in the wrong place for a month.

Correct. But they just finished paving last week.
They’ve had temp lines up as they paved.

Bump.
Lines are repainted to original design following the completion of the repavement.
