How so? I just think he's a jackass and an embarrassment. I don't think it's asking too much to have our president and the leader of the free world not act like a spurned, vindictive, spoiled 8 year old.

They can't separate the two. They've convinced themselves that Trump can do no wrong. They've got a very difficult time criticizing anything the man does. Suggesting he's good for business but could use a little more tact is blasphemy to these folks.

The cool part about being in the middle is that you can see how crazy (and how similar) and biased both sides of the political spectrum are.

I will say I have not yet tired us using "fake news".

This is pretty much how I feel about him. As I've stated previously in the thread, I'm more of a Rand Paul type guy but I thought that Trump was the better option and still feel that way.

Voted for Bush x2 and I'm all for an economy-expanding approach to things, but if you're able discern where I "truly" am based on a couple comments in this thread then I take my hat off to you sir.

I no longer care about how people perceive our President. I want a President who:

1. Loves America unashamedly.
2. Wants Americans to make money.
3. Doesn't start a war to make his friends money.

So far, those 3 have been checked.

Very little, but both sides try to claim it's them when it runs and say the president can't impact it when it falls.

I agree with this, but as someone else mentioned, I do think perception plays a small factor, but it is a short-term factor. In reality, we don't really know how well a president does until they have been out of office for several years (some policies might have a positive short term effect, but long term it could harmful and so on).

Trump has been in office for a year, he has three more to go. And while the stock market has continuously gone up in his first year that doesn't mean it will continue to do so. For some, I think this might be the time to "quit while ahead".

So voting for Bush a couple times put me where on the spectrum, exactly?

Far be it am I from the only person who has been soured on Trump after initial optimism. I thought he was going to run the country like a business, yay, but I can't imagine anyone acting the way he does while running a company and a) staying at the top, b) staying out of jail, or c) keeping the doors open.

I love making money as much as the next guy. I work and I have investments. I make good money, have minimal to no writeoffs, and pay my taxes. But like I said, I'm embarrassed at how our president handles his business.

So you are embarrassed that a President finally kept his word on a majority of campaign promises?

That's rich.

If you are trading it's always smart to take some profits. It you are 35 I wouldn't suggest selling investments in your Ira. It's impossible to time the market and you shouldn't need that money anytime soon anyway. It'll have huge gains and losses many more times before you need it

This is a reasonable post. Never a bad idea to take some profits. And we'll see if/how Trump's tune changes when a big correction hits. If history is any indicator, I'm guessing it won't start with "It's my fault..." (and I'm not just basing that on Trump's history).

I'm a Libertarian leaning conservative but I did consider Trump to be the better of the 2 options despite his somewhat abrasive tactics. I still feel this way.

I will be completely honest.. I don't like to say this because people will say "if you don't vote you can't complain", but I was not happy with either candidate. I thought it was a disgrace that those two clowns were our only option so I decided to not even go vote. Im sure my dad was rolling around in his grave (the first time I was able to vote for president I wasn't going to go and when I told him I didn't care and wasn't going vote he pretty much told me it is a disgrace to my country to have the right to vote and not do so.. but in a lot of different other words).

I am registered republican, but I consider myself independent. But this past presidential election I felt that I also had the right to not vote if I didn't think either of the candidates should be president (I could have gone vote for one of the other small party candidates, but my non vote was sort of a "self-protest").

I was exactly the same and wrote in a vote for president (apparently I'm not a moderate), but went to vote in all the other elections that I likely couldn't affect in a state like Illinois. There are always some important issues up for vote in the local elections.

I'm almost 43 and I've never gotten to vote for a Presidential candidate that I really liked. It's always about who I dislike the least. I'm very fiscally conservative but somewhat socially liberal but typically vote with my wallet in mind.
