17 ft. Is pretty damn big for a Burmese though. Reticulated pythons get much larger.
Back in the ‘70s, the old snake farm on Hwy. 90 in Slidell had a Retic that was around 26 ft. long. I still have the photos somewhere in my house - my uncle, my dad, and my brother were part of a group holding it. They also had a Burmese around 16 ft. long that was much thicker in girth than the one pictured in that article.

They are. Mine lounge around all day doing nothing, but once the lights go out they are either hanging from a branch coiled in a striking position or roaming their cages.
