Record a conversation with every person you love.

Doesn’t have to be a long one or an important one. Just record anything with their voice when they’re talking to you. I wish I had done this with my Grandfather. You never know when someone could be taken from you. You never want to forget the voices of the people you love. It hurts every time I have to struggle and remember what he sounded like.

I lost my voicemail from my grandma when ATT went out during the flood. Meh.

I'd lose the thumb drive I saved it on or forget the password to the cloud it is on. Or most of the conversations would turn into arguments. Or half the folks in my family would be highly skeptical of any recording device and would just clam up and not say a word out of fear of incriminating themselves.

I have one voicemail of my grandmother singing me happy birthday from many years ago that I cherish so much. I have it saved in like 5 different places.

Yeah I would give anything to spend an afternoon with any of my grandparents.

I have several voicemails from my wife. She passed away almost 3 years ago. She always told me how much she loved me. These are good to have when I need them.

Yeap i wish i would have done the same for my grandma . i used to speak with her every week on the phone and regret not recording her voice She passed nearly 4 years ago and that is definetly one of my regrets not doing so.

My mother died of cancer in January of 2006. When we were informed that her time was coming to an end, I immediately thought about sitting down with her and video a conversation with her kinda like an interview. My thinking was that I would ask her about things like her favorite childhood memories, (She grew on a logging road in the depression) how she met my dad, valuable life lessons she has learned, things like that. The intent would be to have the video available for her great grandkids she would never meet.
Unfortunately due to how quickly she deteriorated that never happened. It both makes me sad and angry everytime I think about it.

I have a voicemail from my grandfather before he died calling to thank me for bringing my son to see him and telling me he loves me.
I still listen to it every once in a while. One of the Greatest men I’ve ever known.

I had a recording my grandmother had sent me before she died. Sadly when I had to get a new phone it was lost forever, wish I had saved it in my email or something

My grandfather died in 2010, but he had a stroke in 1999. He never called my cell phone so I don't have any from him. I have a voicemail saved from each of my siblings in case something happened. When my brother went to Iraq, I kept a voicemail from him. One of my friends who was in his 60's left me a VM, then died suddenly. I had it, then T-mobile automatically deleted it.

Not sure what this has to do with wanting to hear a loved one's voice after they've passed.

Maybe a little. But once the pain subsides, listening to the voice of a late loved one makes you smile, not cry.

Thanks for this idea . I can close my eyes and hear all my grandparents clearly . I would love to hear my brother’s voice. Or his laugh.
