Yea a lot of manufacturers own more than one line
Cub Cadet has issues with the hydrostatic transmissions in the drive systems. I had an old Cub ZTR and the one on the left side went out. It was $850 for a mower that was $2700 new.
No. I wouldn't want it anyway. Just more stuff to break.

Know how much that hustler tilt deck runs?

I was told by a pretty reputable source that the "welded" deck on the hustler in tang price range was pretty puny and weak
Not even remotely true. I have a Hustler Raptor and the deck is stout. It'll last 2 lifetimes of residential use.
As a side note, I ordered mine through lowes and I used one of those 10% coupons too. I was surprised they took it.

Why not just save yourself a lot of money and get yourself a Deere garden tractor if you're just mowing a level lot with not many obstacles, unless your mowing acreage. Will last you for years and years. Or look around on Craigslist and la sportsman and you could find a nice used ztr like scag, hustler, kubota for good price.

I've looked around at used but nothing really but junk or shite that's way overpriced
I may snag that Hustler Raptor 52" for 2999 at lowes
I thought lowes didn't carry them anymore for some reason

Never knew that either. Thought they just sold John Deere and husqvarna homeowner models.

Toro makes a very nice 42" with a stamped deck. If all you are cutting is your own yard, stamped is all you need.

Horrible advice. It's not only that a stamped deck is weaker, it's that it will rust faster too. Unless you get under there and clean out any grass stuck to the deck after every cut, there is no way a stamped deck will last as long as welded.

Have had 2 stamped deck ZTR mower. I had a Dixon for 13 yrs and it is now at the camp and replaced it with a Toro. For a residential yard, a stamped deck will work just fine. You'd be much better off saving on the deck and putting the extra money into a better engine. Just my .02.

The Raptor is a welded deck and Kawasaki engine. Can't much better than that for $3K.

Looks like the lowes models all have Kohler engines
I wonder if it's different at dealers.

Actually its great advice as I had my own lawn service. A residential quality mower is all he needs. Plus, I never said a stamped deck will outlast a welded deck.
If he wants to try to impress his neighbors with a welded deck and overpaying for a 'overkill' mower, then go for it. Maybe even put a set of mower 'nuts' on them too..
Try comprehension.

Yea I just looked and the Raptors come with Kohler. Still a good engine.

Agree. That is about the best ztr pkg you can buy for that price, unless you happen to stumble across a good used fastrack super duty or tiger cub.

Hustler is consistently rated as the best mower for the money in mid to lower price ranges because they don't skimp on the features as much as the lower teir mowers by other manufacturers. A welded deck is standard and they are still priced the same as a cheap Gravely, Exmark, Toro, etc. that all have stamped decks.

I will when you try research and chill on hyperbole.
