No it isn't.
Everyone knows what they're getting into when they book a flight. Everyone agrees to the terms when you buy the ticket. You signed up for the seat knowing that airlines try to shrink it everyday and knowing that the passenger in front of you might recline their seat. You don't get to agree to these terms then bitch and try to change them after the fact.

I think it's rude to reline your seat
Rude? It’s not rude at all.

It is absolutely their right to recline their seat but it's a dick move to not be considerate of the person behind you.

There are some things that make it ok, but it is usually a dick move.
If I can check these boxes off, I'll recline:
1. Relatively small person behind me
2. Long flight (3+ hours)
If there is a bigger human behind me and/or it is a short flight, I don't think it is polite to recline.

Reclining your seat on a short flight is trashy
On a cross country or international flight it's fine

The recline/don't recline debate typically ends up like the timeless debate over standing vs sitting at sporting events.
At the end of the day, if you use situational awareness and aren't a total douche -- everything will be ok.
I'm 6'5" and I've had my knees bumped on a few flights, but more often than not, the person in front of me will pull the seat back upright once they realize it's hitting my legs -- and because of this courtesy, I typically try and shift my legs to a different position to allow them to recline again if they want.
I can only think of one, maybe two times where I couldn't shift my legs due to baggage under the seats in front of me and the person in front of me trying to forcefully crush my legs in an effort get full recline. Thankfully it was a short flight and the cran-apple juice and pretzels distracted me from the pain.

Good Lord, no it isn't. It's not their fault your company won't let you pick your seat.

You should get a smaller purse.

why in the frick do they even have reclining seats in planes is the better question
the only way to recline is for your seat to press against the knee caps of the person in the seat behind you

Well that's your own bag for one...

It's not a dick move to knowingly cause discomfort to the person sitting behind you?

I don't necessarily think it's a dick move
I do think a lot of people who infrequently fly do it just because they can, and I personally have never gotten much relief or comfort out of slightly reclining on a 2 hour flight.

Why are you setting yourself up for failure by putting your own bag in the way of your leg room you desperately need when you know there’s a good chance some a-hole will recline?

We again circle back to "buy an exit row." It's not a dick move for someone to use the seat they paid for in the manner in which it was designed to be used.
If a seat reclining a couple inches causes you such extreme discomfort, you should speak with your company about letting you get an exit row.

Your anger is misdirected.
Blame the airlines for removing legroom and making reclining available, not the person taking advantage of the available options.

No it isn’t. Grow a set and man up

If you are going to recline, you should alert the person behind you. If they politely ask that you not recline, you should not recline.
I'm on the taller side and the minimal recline offers me zero relief, but if the person in front of me does it, they are going to smash my knees.

It does if you're tall and your knees are already almost in your chest because the space for airline seats is already cramped.
Not to tall shame anyone, but get a different seat if you are tall.
I don't fly Spirit and shite because it is uncomfortable. I pay extra for more comfort.

All I am asking for if someone reclines, so that I can re-position my legs so that they don't get crushed.
