just a respray on paint on that bumper would cost you $1k

i just had a quote for a scratched rear bumper on a camry to repaint the bumper

im guessing the quote for yours will come in well above $3k to fix that

Pro Tip here:

Lexus (and Toyota) plastic bumpers are not intended to exactly match the rest of the vehicle's paint color.

If you don't believe me, go to a dealership on a bright sunny day (good luck in Oregon!) and look at them.

All this being said, I'd probably fix it myself unless there was an issue I can't see from the images posted.

Good luck. And get that &%$#@* garage organized.

Geesh!

They are intended to match.

They generally are just ever so slightly off due to the flex agent used and they are painted separately from the car body anyway. That's not unique to Toyota.

Someone mentioned "blending" it. Guess what; The factory doesn't blend it.

Order a new bumper online and take to a local garage type establishment to get installed

Insurance claim will only make insurance go up plus you’re out the deductible

You won't find a bumper cover already painted to match unless it's used and from a junk yard.

You can buy a new painted bumper cover and other body parts online for almost any vehicle and they are pretty cheap. I don't know what year his Lexus is but a new painted rear bumper cover for a 2007-2012 ES350 is $250.99 inc shipping

How has your driving been the last 5 years? Tickets? Claims?

If perfect, this is probably the opportunity to file the claim with little to no repercussions.

If not perfect, I would recommend trying to get it done without insurance. Repeat offenses can get very, very expensive on the insurance premium.

Wait so it's way more detailed than just buying a replacement bumper right?

This one is only like $400 shipped but I'm assuming that there has to be colour matching, etc. etc.

but what about back up cams, etc? I have a neighbour / friend who is very handy and would probably be happy to help but at the same time I can't be all slapdick about it and would need to make sure that I have all the right parts, etc.

I did use the back up camera - the trailer was so low to the ground (and empty) and so I didn't see it at all.

My biggest mistake was actually pulling forward instead of stopping on contact and getting out. That's what pried the whole damn bumper off
