Except those people who allow their pit bulls to kill and harm people will just own another type of dog like they did with dobermans in the 80s and rottweilers in the 90s.

The question is, as a matter of policy, can we take reasonable steps to eventually eliminate pitbulls?

Make each illegal we deport find one and take it back to their home country with them.

I'm a problem solver.

I know plenty of pit owners that have no problems whatsoever. It's not the dog, it's the owner.

Only bad owners have pits that kill/maim?

Simple answer, no. Why?

1)With people who like pit bulls, there is enough amateur 'breeders' who will propagate the population.

2) Pit bulls are a status symbol mainly in the AA community. They represent power and tenacity.

3) there are no laws to regulate puppy mills. and the laws that are on the books are watered down.

So, no, there is no way to reduce any one segment of any one dog breed, no matter how 'dangerous' or 'useless' they may be, because any laws passed cannot discriminate between breeds.

Link?

Also, what breed or mix of breed kills the most humans and/or other dogs? I'm curious to know what other breeds to kill if they enter my yard.

A true OT conundrum.

1. Hate pits and want them dead.

2. Hate cops who kill pits.

Confusion.

Hold their owners criminally liable and you'd see the population dwindle

Pit bulls are genetically predisposed to being more dangerous. They are only 7% of the dog population, but contribute to more than 4/5 of bite fatalities. Even if their owners want to keep being badass and own another dog similar to that, they are still far less likely to be dangerous.

what if i told you that there are certain people that feed dogs gunpowder, keep them locked in the dark, and inbreed them in attempt to make them crazy and mean?yeah...those people should not be punished,it's the dog that's at fault.

Stop lying to yourself. You want to use the government to stop people from owning an animal you personally deem dangerous.

you're too stupid to know the difference or notice the difference between an actual pitbull, an American bulldog, a Staffordshire terrier, bullmastiff, and a dogo more than likely.

I don't really hold it against someone for adopting one at a shelter or taking in a stray, as long as the dog is neutered/spayed. I wouldn't personally do it, but I can understand why. But you have to work with these people.

Why? If any of the pits need to be put down, it's most likely the ones at shelters.

How about we try to cull murders on humans before we worry about the flea bags.

Well what I'm saying is that I don't think you're necessarily a bad guy for adopting one. Not trying to demonize people, although it's pretty clear a lot of them are probably pretty sensitive.

Is it just him deeming pits dangerous or are there others like insurance companies, vets and victims of pit bull violence?

See this mother pit teaching the puppy where to bite?
