It also cost me 22.50 to charge. My range is now 240.

This sounds really close to on par with my f150 if gas is $3-ish

OP says he's paying 48 cents/kwh while I've been paying about 15 cents in Louisiana. Of course that's probably the fast charger rate vs residential rate. Charge stations gotta make money.

Im curious if there was any attempt to charge at the hotel. That's how you do it.

For a guy that lived in Vegas I would think you would know this (jk, Greg Maddux joke). Vegas gets a really cheap rate for electricity due to the dam. Last time I checked it was about 20% below the national average. It might be different now

Kinda seems like the governments in most parts of the world are trying to make engines disappear but why people think they will disappear is beyond me too.

So I am in Vegas for a few days this week, when I booked a rental….the cheapest option was… a Polestar

A Tesla can be completely practical if you own it and have a home charger. As of right now, it’s not very practical as a rental.

We’re only in the beginning of this automotive shift. Cars in the 1920’s had many, many issues but we didn’t give up. Progress takes time.

I had an Asian chick start some small talk when I started playing my first slot machine at 3 in the morning. I saw where that was headed and moved. I knew either she was a hooker or I would end up on ice missing an organ.

I know of chargers in my neighborhood that are free. Find a free slow charger and park for a couple hours.

You mean several hours as you have to wait for the other users ahead of you to finish. Don't use your radio or heat/ac as you might not have enough juice to move up to the charger.
imagine...planning your life around charging a car...when you can fill an ICE up in minutes...you have your reward...

It is weird to me people do not know what a Polestar 2 is or people here called it crap. If you know anything abt cars (EV or ICE), you know that is the known performance (i.e. racing brand) for Volvo. Sometimes this board has unbelievable ignorance.

I mean one could make posts they think are funny but have no basis in reality or one could know facts. The brand has existed since 1996 in performance/racing spheres, obviously including ICE vehicles.

My comment was specifically about their EV tech. They just aren't quite there yet and the storage life is unknown. I don't hear much about them having a big priority on understanding ESS cycling and how that feeds degradation. That and their energy storage efficiency needs a decent improvement to take a swing at Tesla.

Well if we don't pretend that EV drivers spend hours waiting in line and then spend hours waiting for a charge each time they "fill up" and also pretend that they pay 3-5X as much for electricity so that it costs the same as gas and also pretend that every battery pack is on the verge of failure and they're about to drop $20k on a new one, then what will we have to feel smart and smug about?

I mean if we recognize that the overwhelming majority of charging takes literally 10 seconds of the driver's time to plug in when they get home and that it costs less than $10 for a full charge and that most batteries will last a decade or more and that they typically cost far less than $20k to replace and get cheaper by the day, then what will we have left?

Oh wait I know, that 12 hour drive you make 38 times per year will take you 13 hours! Still got that one!
