I got one a couple of years ago when I renewed my license. Just make sure you go in with all the documentation. It doesn't take much longer than a normal license. I got mine at the DMV in Gonzales.

As mentioned earlier in the thread, I already have a passport (was told at the gate that wouldn't suffice later). Perhaps that was bad info. Got my last license in 2017 -- it expires 2025, and they never said anything about it.

Wtf, there are still states that don’t have 100% implementation of Real ID? I walked out of the DMV will a Real ID the day i turned 16 in ‘06. I thought that was supposed to nationwide by 2010 or something

Yes, they keep pushing back the compliance dates. And years later, there are still idiots who have never heard of Real ID.

Sucka! Should’ve done it two years ago in anticipation of this. Been known this would be a requirement for some time now.

ABC Title in Metairie and one other non DMV entity are the only ones in the New Orleans area designated by the state authorized to issue RealID.

Yes, I did it.
There is the Yellow Star thing .... it's all very painless and it does streamline things at the airport, especially if you are already TSA-Pre.
Plus the new ones have your veteran status on there if you already are getting veteran tags in the system.
Makes it damn easy when flying and they ask to load veterans first.
The wife and I just enrolled in CLEAR the other day and we're supposed to finalize the process at the airport.
