My wife and I are planning on joining the Catholic church and I know RCIA usually starts in August/September. We are still torn on which church to join. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Also, my wife and I both work shift work. How lenient are the churches when we have to miss an RCIA class?

Depends on what y'all are looking for. Go to mass at the closest church and then the next closest 4 or so.

Check out St. Jude if it's convenient to where you live. It's a great church. Also just want to say that I am a Catholic convert myself and it has been the blessing of a lifetime for me. I wish you and your wife the very best in your Catholic journey. I know it will be a truly powerful experience for you both

Yeah I agree with this also. Traditionally Catholics will go to whatever church is geographically closest to where you live. But if you're fairly close to a few no reason not to check them all out and choose your favorite.

Your parish church will have a program . I went through it , I am catholic but did not attend church or catechism so when I got married I went to RCIA . It was a good experience and they weren't too hard when I could not make meetings . This was twenty years ago .

My wife went through RCIA when we lived in Texas. Our parish mandated you attend a certain percentage of the meetings to be admitted, but the deacon was available to get together outside of meetings if there was an issue.
We actually looked at another church a few years earlier and they had an on odd policy where most people took two years to go through RCIA.
My suggestion is to go to the church either closest to home, or the one nearest your work if that would make meeting attendance easier.
My family attends OLOM, but I've found most of the parishes in BR to be great.

Godparents have to be confirmed Catholics. That could be another reason.

Since you live out by MBS, I'd go through the program there, or St. Jean Vienny, or St. Patrick.

We've considered it just to use their private schools and not pay the infidel surcharge
