It would be really beneficial I believe in treating addiction, from the research I've seen.
I’ve read studies showing that as well. I think that the Author of the AA big book even advocated for it at one point.
Like all such substances, it must be treated with respect and you need to be sure in yourself.
There’s a documentary about MKULTRA their use of it...can’t remember the name

Same here. My kids are too young right now to mess with stuff like that but when they get a little older, I'm definitely going to strongly recommend that they try it at least once or twice in their life.
It's something I believe everybody should do at least once or twice in their lives. It definitely permanently open your mind in a way that nothing else can.

Doing drugs for 30 years is totally different than trying it a few times, don’t confuse the two, I would say that most cant tow the rope though, and that comes down to education. If all drugs were legal, education would happen.
Psychedelics burst the bubble of perception, and gives a different perspective, and that is invaluable. I work with people that could sooo benefit from seeing a different narrative, everything is just so black and white to them.
The way they speak so eloquently makes me sad.

If we could make sure it was pure and real instead of some crap mixed up in someone's bathroom hell yes.
I did it a couple times way back when and loved it

That’s really irresponsible and I can’t believe you actually have children
My son’s teenage friend took acid and ended up in the hospital. It’s been almost a year and my son says he’s still not right. His personality completely changed and he’s very angry and paranoid now

Clean,
I see everyone questioning your claim, and asking questions, but no one has asked if acid was the only drug you took. That would be my question. I've never heard of an acid addict, but I guess anything is possible.
As someone who's never taken acid, but almost let snorting coke ruin my life, the subject of drug addiction does interest me. I started doing coke in the mid 80's, and quit cold Turkey on my own, in the early 90's. Have only smoked weed since then, and haven't done that since 2010.
I have no desire to snort coke again. I am thankful I never freebased or smoked crack. As crazy as it may sound, even though I snorted lots of coke, I'm a person that would would never smoke it, or do something as addictive as heroin. Guess I should be glad I was to chicken-Sh*t to do those things. I just never saw life end well for anyone that did them.
I'm semi retired now. I don't drink any more, but would most likely be ingesting cannabis before bedtime if I was in a state where it's legal. That's as crazy as I'd ever see myself getting in my 60's.
Glad you are working on conquering your addictions. Hope you are successful at that, and getting to where you want to be in life. Always enjoyed your enthusiastic coverage of high school sports. It's kind of a thankless job, but also can be a rewarding one. Keep fighting. I think it's in your nature to fight, and you know you can do what you need to do.

Two things.
1. Are you sure he had acid? And I'm talkin about real LSD? Ergot fungus derived? All I would ever recommend is psilocybin anyway.
2. People who have a background or a family history of mental disorders, should stay away from any kind of brain altering chemicals. That includes alcohol, by the way. Certain drugs can expose underlying issues. It happened to my sister-in-law who developed severe paranoid schizophrenia after her father's death and $12,000 worth of crack over a two-year period.

Well you could never know what you were encouraging your children to try
I’ve done it and enjoyed it several times but I also know of some bad experiences. And I want my child to do better than I did

With what symptoms? He probably got a hold of some shitty research chemical.
Quality LSD is highly unlikely to send anyone to the hospital for any real danger.
And that’s why it should be respected. It’s been proven to have therapeutic value. Just because some stupid kid didn’t know how to handle it and likely did some bullshite analog unsupervised doesn’t denigrate the value of Dr. Hoffman’s discovery.
No more than some idiot teenager getting drunk on bathtub moonshine and getting alcohol poisoning denigrates grown men sharing a good bottle of scotch with their sons as they solve the world’s problems around the fire.
Respect, education, discipline and moderation are what is needed, not some knee jerk emotional reaction.

Agree but I think we all know what a mushroom looks like. That's why it's the only thing I would recommend because it is exactly what you see. That and you can pick it yourself so you know you can trust the source. I would never recommend that they mess with any powdered or capsuled drugs

Complete, 100% grade A bullshite.
That’s like saying you should never drink because you could get bad bathtub gin and go blind. This is why it should be legal and regulated for therapeutic purposes. Psychologists have proven it’s value, along with MDMA I think? I read an article a while back.
They aren’t getting it from some shady hood rat in bishop woods.
Ending the war on such substances would likely allow legitimate chemists to go legal and provide quality product to the right people.
Prohibition only encourages dangerous bullshite and a black market

Stop arguing with me just to argue
In your hypothetical lsd is legal and obtained from a legitimate source. Well that won’t happen in our lifetime so your point is moot

Makes my heart race just watching this
Most people who can “handle” drugs and understand the experience and not become totally engrossed by them are usually type A people.
It’s that initial wave of the come up you experience where you realize there is no turning back. What you’ve taken is going to do its thing. And you can’t get out of it.
And for the rest of the night you are simply along for the ride.
On molly and acid you’re never out of control and you won’t do anything to harm yourself. But for a brief period of time in your life you are no longer in control of your psyche. And coming to grips with being in the passenger seat inside your head is scary.... but once you just accept it and take a deep breath and enjoy the ride.... the experience is endlessly rewarding.
I think that’s why so many driven smart intelligent people are drawn to drugs like this. It helps you overcome the need to always be in control. And it’s a mental exercise in being taken by the hand and shown realms of consciousness people usually don’t get to experience. Uncharted waters. Not dangerous because it’s unmapped, but the feeling of going into the unknown is so strange.
But just take a few deep breaths and gather your thoughts and hust enjoy the ride and god damn you come out the other side with some valuable new avenues opened up.

The world would be a better place if everyone tried LSD at least once.
It feels too good.
But in today's world with everyone so stressed, people living with depression, etc it wouldn't hurt if everyone would do it.. Like once or month or something..
Put them in a whole different place for a little while.
